Visit The Observatory
BBBO encourages the public to visit the banding station and learn about bird migration and our research. However, due to a shortage of parking, we ask that you call us at 585-234-3525 to schedule visits by large groups. The station is open to the public from 8 a.m. until close (usually early afternoon) daily. Please keep in mind that the station is only operational from mid-April to early-June during spring migration, and from late-August to mid-October during fall migration. The station is closed the remainder of the year. To ensure the safety of the birds, the station is also closed on rainy days and days when the temperature is below 35 degrees. In the interest of our ongoing research programs, access to portions of the study area are closed to the public.
For directions to the station, call 585-234-3525.
