Saturday August 23. It was set-up day and driving poles into the cement-like ground is a lot harder in the fall than in the spring! But it was a beautiful day, with the first hint of fall in the air, and Ann Adams, David Bonter, Betsy Brooks, Mark
Deutschlander, Kelly Dockery, Jon Dombrowski, Virginia Duffy, Pat Lovallo, Cindy Marino, Bob McKinney and Debbie Reed got the job done by mid-afternoon and we are ready for banding!
Sunday August 24. 52 new; 12 recaps. Species banded included Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Traill’s Flycatcher, Least Flycatcher, Warbling Vireo, Black-capped Chickadee, American Robin, Gray Catbird, Cedar Waxwing, Blue-winged Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Black-throated Green Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, American Redstart, Mourning Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Hooded Warbler, Wilson’s Warbler, Canada Warbler, Northern Cardinal). Erin Karnatz was Bander-in-charge
(BIC) for the spectacular first day of the fall 2003 season with help from Ann Adams, and Coby Klein.
Monday August 25. 28 new, 11 recaps. New species included Downy Woodpecker, Red-eyed Vireo, Black-and-white Warbler, and Baltimore Oriole. Jon Dombrowski was BIC with help from Virginia Duffy, Ann Adams, Judy
Engerman, and Judy Gurley.
Tuesday August 26. 21 new, 13 recaps. New species included Great Crested Flycatcher. BIC Jon Dombrowski enjoyed the first Great Crested Flycatcher of the fall with help from Doug Smith, Kelly Dockery, Ruth Stork, and Donna
Hilborn.
Wednesday August 27. 20 new, 13 recaps. New species included Black-throated Blue Warbler, Connecticut Warbler, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, House Sparrow. We had a very pleasant morning, banding just 20 birds but we had quality, a Connecticut Warbler. Bob McKinney was BIC with help from Kelly Dockery, Linda
Boutwell, Coby Klein, and Chita McKinney.
Thursday August 28. 38 new, 18 recaps. New species included Swainson’s
Thrush, Nashville Warbler, Song Sparrow, Lincoln’s Sparrow. John Waud was BIC with help from Doug Smith, Barb Wagner, Coby Klein and Marilyn
Guenther.
Friday August 29. 20 new, 10 recaps. Veery was captured for the first
time during the fall season. Cindy Marino was BIC with help from John Waud, Virginia Duffy, Shirley
Meston, John Lehr and Linda Boutwell.
Saturday August 30. 25 new, 17 recaps. New species included Acadian Flycatcher, Northern Waterthrush. Bob McKinney was BIC with help from Chita McKinney and Linda
Boutwell.
