Banding Summary:
Week of September 19, 2004 |

Sunday September 19. 87 new, 10 recaps; new species Eastern Phoebe. David Bonter was BIC with assistance from staff from the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology including Sara Barker Swarthout, Elliot Swarthout, Michelle Hall, and Anya Illes. Bird of the day is Blue-headed Vireo with 14 banded.
Monday September 20. 131 new, 26 recaps; new species Wood Thrush, Brown Thrasher, and Northern Parula. Cindy Marino is BIC with help from Shirley Meston, Virginia Duffy, and Marilyn Guenther. Bird of the day is White-throated Sparrow with 40 banded.
Tuesday September 21. 68 new, 19 recaps. We enjoy a visit from Tom LeBlanc and his friend Jordan. Bird of the day is Gray-cheeked Thrush with 15 banded.
Wednesday September 22. 94 new, 31 recaps; new species Hermit Thrush, Hooded Warbler and
White-crowned Sparrow. We band 7 warbler species including 5 Blackpoll Warblers.
Thursday September 23. 210 new, 14 recaps. We have wind from the SSW at dawn but still band over 200
birds! We enjoy a visit from Sue and Bob Spahn. We do some banding just before sunset and get 26 late-day birds. Bird of the day is White-throated
Sparrow with 43 banded.
Friday September 24. 113 new, 15 recaps. It is hectic at dawn but the pace levels off quickly. It is a good crew with Erin Karnatz, Virginia Duffy, Barb Wagner, John Lehr, and Tami Walsh. It's a nice thrush day with 17 Gray-cheeked Thrush, 1 Bicknell's Thrush, 7 Gray-cheeked/Bicknell's
Thrush, 18 Swainson's Thrush, and 2 Hermit Thrush.
Saturday September 25. 83 new, 19 recaps. It was a fine day of banding with Bob McKinney BIC assisted by Linda Boutwell, Pat Lovallo, Doug Smith and Senior Intern Ryan
Kayhart.
