Sunday May 9. 37 new, 18 recaps. Off and on showers limit our net hours so we only band 37 birds of 12 species. We welcome Dan Bushey, another of Rodney Olsen's students from Vermont.

Monday May 10. 472 new, 10 recaps. New species Northern Parula, Blackburnian Warbler, Canada Warbler. It's the best spring day since May 10, 1991 with 472 birds banded of 38 species. The early day rush consists of 83 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 67 Western Palm Warblers, and 55 Yellow-rumped Warblers plus 18 additional warbler species. By mid-morning, 53 Blue Jays (second highest one-day count) keep us busy. Special thanks to the great crew of Cindy Marino (BIC) assisted by Betsy Brooks, Patti O'Kane, Shirley Meston, Ann Adams, Carolyn Marrocco, Charley Eiseman, Ryan Kayhart and Dan Bushey. It was a great first day of class for our six Bander Training Course students.

Tuesday May 11. 61 new, 11 recaps. New species Golden-winged Warbler, Indigo Bunting, House Sparrow. The slowest day of the week but we band a nice variety of warblers including our first Golden-winged Warbler of the spring.

Wednesday May 12. 198 new, 13 recaps. New species Traill's Flycatcher, Mourning Warbler. Bob McKinney joins us for a great morning of banding. We band 27 Common Yellowthroats.

Thursday May 13. 105 new, 6 recaps. New species Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Willow Flycatcher. Only a few "Traill's" Flycatchers can be separated into Willow or Alder, but Charley does all the measurements and identifies one bird as a Willow.

Friday May 14. 215 new,13 recaps. New species Black-billed Cuckoo, White-eyed Vireo, Tennessee Warbler, Bay-breasted Warbler, Alder Flycatcher. It is a "catbird" day with 64 banded but we also band 14 warbler species including a Brewster's Warbler. We enjoy having St. Bonaventure sophomore Luke Donius with us for the day.

Saturday May 15. 135 new 5 recaps. New species Gray-Cheeked Thrush. David Bonter is BIC assisted by Virginia Duffy, Charley Eiseman, Ryan Kayhart and Dan Bushey. Showers hold off long enough for us to get in 5.5 hours of banding. Included in the 12 warbler species are 15 Magnolia, 17 Black-throated Blue Warblers, and 17 Common Yellowthroats.
