Banding Summary:
Week of May 29, 2005 |

Sunday May 29. 114 new, 13 recaps, 33 species; new species Eastern Wood Pewee. Erin Karnatz and Kelly Dockery are banders-in-charge (BICs) and have a great day, with great variety, with 13 warbler species including 16 Magnolia Warblers and 12 Wilson’s Warblers.
Monday May 30. 78 new, 25 species. Bob McKinney is BIC with great help from Chita McKinney, Marilyn Guenther, Courtney and Sue Rawleigh, Shirley Meston, Ron and Erin Rockwell, Peggy Keller, and Emily and Andrea Patterson. A late Winter Wren is an interesting capture.
Tuesday May 31. 50 new, 10 recaps, 19 species. Cindy Marino is BIC and has a good day with 10 warbler species.
Wednesday June 1. 95 new, 23 species. Bob McKinney is BIC. Migrants are definitely still coming through, as 13 Magnolia Warblers and 14 Wilson’s Warblers are banded.
Thursday June 2. 140 new, 6 recaps, 31 species; new species Yellow-breasted Chat. Erin Karnatz is BIC and encounters “flycatcher fallout”! Seven Yellow-bellied Flycatchers, 40 Traill’s Flycatchers, 1 Least Flycatcher and 1 Great Crested Flycatcher are banded while six “unidentified empidonax Flycatchers” are released unbanded. A very late Golden-crowned Kinglet is interesting. The day’s total of 140 new bandings is the fifth best day of the spring!
Friday June 3. 58 new, 8 recaps, 22 species; new species Tufted Titmouse. Kelly Dockery is BIC with help from Courtney Rawleigh, Barb Wagner, Marilyn Guenther, Pat Lovallo and Lee Schofield.
