Erin Karnatz is BIC. We have showers early but when it stops we get a good number of birds in our nets, including a beautiful HY White-eyed Vireo! It’s a great kinglet day with 28 Golden-crowned and 19 Ruby-crowned Kinglets banded.

Monday October 2. 163 of 26 species; 20 recaps. Another good day with 34 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 26 Golden-crowned Kinglets, 25 Hermit Thrush, and 24 White-throated Sparrows banded.

Tuesday October 3. 52 new of 13 species; 20 recaps. The showers hold off so that members of the Hill and Dale Garden Club in Fairport get to see a few nice birds including a beautiful Black-throated Green Warbler.

Wednesday October 4. 38 new of 14 species; 8 recaps; new species Red-breasted Nuthatch. We captured an Eastern Screech Owl in the bottom panel of a net in the woods, but it escapes just as Ryan reaches for it! We dodge thunderstorms until rain closes us down at mid-morning. Treat of the day is a return visit from the White-eyed Vireo banded on Sunday. Linda Boutwell brings the ‘treat’ of the season – turtle cheesecake!
