Banding Summary: Week of September 3, 2006

Sunday September 3. 37 new of 12 species; 24 recaps. New species Myrtle Warbler. Erin Karnatz is BIC. It’s a Magnolia Warbler day with 15 banded and we are pleased to be able to band two Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.

Monday September 4. 58 new of 20 species. New species Connecticut Warbler. Bob McKinney is BIC with help from Ruth Stork, Jane Miller, Peggy Keller and Chita McKinney. 

Tuesday September 5. 60 new birds of 24 species; 21 recaps. New species Northern Parula, We band 12 warbler species and a beautiful Northern Oriole.

Wednesday September 6. 52 new of 26 species. New species Ruby-crowned Kinglet and White-throated Sparrow. We enjoy great variety today as we band 26 different species including 17 warbler species. 

Thursday September 7. 41 new of 23 species. New species Lincoln’s Sparrow. Bird of the day is Red-eyed Vireo with 7 banded. John Waud is BIC with the assistance of David Mathiason, Doug Smith, Shirley Meston and Marilyn Guenther. Members of a local hiking club stop by to watch us band. 

Friday September 8. 28 new of 16 species; 16 recaps. Three Yellow-bellied Flycatchers are a nice treat. 

Saturday September 9. 18 new of 9 species. Rain moves in after just a few hours of banding but we are pleased to band 6 Blackpoll Warblers.
