Monday, August 20, 2007. 25 new, 14 recaptures. The intensive fall banding season begins with 11 species captured including Canada, Wilson's, and Magnolia Warblers. David Bonter is BIC for the week with visiting researcher Rafael Herrerra, a professor at the University of Tamaulipas, Mexico, and the wonderful assistance of Aggie Windig.

Tuesday, August 21, 2007. 16 new, 4 recaptures. Strong winds from the east bring few birds to the banding station. A lone Yellow-bellied Flycatcher is the first of the fall season.

Wednesday, August 22, 2007. 23 new, 20 recaptures. Superstar volunteer Marilyn Guenther helps out as we catch our first Sharp-shinned Hawk, Ovenbird, and Veery for the season.

Thursday, August 23, 2007. 20 new, 11 recaptures. A warm, slow day of banding with no new species to report.

Friday, August 24, 2007. 7 new, 10 recaptures. Nearly as many banders as birds today as we are joined by Dr. Rachel Vallender and Dr. Ernesto Ruelas, both of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Fortunately Rachel and Ernesto will be staying for several days and will see some more birds.

Saturday, August 25, 2007. 27 new, 15 recaptures. The migrants continue to trickle by with 14 species captured. "Traill's" Flycatcher is the bird of the day with 7 banded.
