See the weekly Banding Table

Sunday October 14. 127 new bandings of 17 species; 41 recaps. It was a busy day, with 36 Ruby-crowned Kinglets and 27 Black-capped Chickadees banded. A late Nashville and Black-throated Blue Warbler are a nice treat.

Monday October 15. 140 new of 17 species. Another busy late-season day, with 49 Ruby-crowned Kinglets and 24 Hermit Thrush banded.

Tuesday October 16. 110 new of 16 species; 19 recaps; new species Rusty Blackbird. We have another 100+ bird day including 19 Black-capped Chickadees, 19 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 13 spectacular Rusty Blackbirds, 11 grackles and 11 goldfinches.

Wednesday October 17. Station closed due to rain.

Thursday October 18. 99 new of 11 species; 14 recaps; new species Marsh Wren. It was an exciting day as BIC Kelly Dockery discovers minor damage to the boathouse, our hand-washing container and soap bitten to pieces, a net damaged, a large muddy paw- print by the banding lab door, and suspects it could have been caused by the bear that has been seen in the area. Later that night, the DEC sets up a trap in Dick and Marybeth O’hara’s yard and they catch the bear! The chickadees also provide some excitement (and sore fingers) as 75 are banded! But the treat of the day is a beautiful Marsh Wren.

Friday October 19. 15 new of 7 species. It’s a slow day, with only a single Yellow-rumped Warbler for excitement!

Saturday October 20. Station closed.
