Wednesday April 18. 8 new of 5 species;
new species were Hairy Woodpecker, Eastern Phoebe, American
Robin, Field Sparrow, and Slate-colored Junco. Bob McKinney
is Bander-in-charge (BIC) for the first day of the spring
2007 season, assisted by Chita McKinney, Cindy Marino
and Linda Boutwell.
Thursday April 19. 15 new of 7 species;
3 retraps; new species were Brown Creeper, Ruby-crowned
Kinglet, Hermit Thrush, and Northern Cardinal. Jon Dombrowski
is BIC and it’s another cold day. So a great crew
(Doug Smith, Kelly Dockery, Aggie Windig, and Sue Evans)
put up a few more nets that the set-up crew were not
able to get up on April 13 due to the cold weather.
Friday April 20. 18 new of 8 species;
5 retraps; new species were Downy Woodpecker, Winter
Wren, Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Eastern Towhee. Kelly
Docker is BIC with help from Kathleen Holt, Jon Dombrowski,
Marilyn Guenther, and David Mathiason. Jon and David
put up three more elevated net assemblies. One more
elevated net assembly to go up and the station will
be fully set up! The first Eastern Towhee of the season
is a nice treat!
Saturday April 21. 48 new of 11 species;
new species were Black-capped Chickadee, Fox Sparrow,
and Purple Finch. Bob McKinney, with help from Chita,
and Jeanne Skelly enjoy the first three Fox Sparrows
of the season! We have many visitors, eager to get out
and enjoy a warmer spring day!
