Wednesday April 18. 8 new of 5 species; new species were Hairy Woodpecker, Eastern Phoebe, American Robin, Field Sparrow, and Slate-colored Junco. Bob McKinney is Bander-in-charge (BIC) for the first day of the spring 2007 season, assisted by Chita McKinney, Cindy Marino and Linda Boutwell.

Thursday April 19. 15 new of 7 species; 3 retraps; new species were Brown Creeper, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Hermit Thrush, and Northern Cardinal. Jon Dombrowski is BIC and it’s another cold day. So a great crew (Doug Smith, Kelly Dockery, Aggie Windig, and Sue Evans) put up a few more nets that the set-up crew were not able to get up on April 13 due to the cold weather.

Friday April 20. 18 new of 8 species; 5 retraps; new species were Downy Woodpecker, Winter Wren, Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Eastern Towhee. Kelly Docker is BIC with help from Kathleen Holt, Jon Dombrowski, Marilyn Guenther, and David Mathiason. Jon and David put up three more elevated net assemblies. One more elevated net assembly to go up and the station will be fully set up! The first Eastern Towhee of the season is a nice treat!

Saturday April 21. 48 new of 11 species; new species were Black-capped Chickadee, Fox Sparrow, and Purple Finch. Bob McKinney, with help from Chita, and Jeanne Skelly enjoy the first three Fox Sparrows of the season! We have many visitors, eager to get out and enjoy a warmer spring day!
