Banding Summary: Week of August 23, 2008

Saturday August 23. 54 new of 15 species. Bob McKinney is Bander-in-Charge (BIC) with help from Chita McKinney and Marian Klik. Bird of the day is Gray Catbird with 15 banded but we band 8 warbler species including Blue-winged, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, American Redstart, Northern Waterthrush, Common Yellowthroat, Hooded and Wilson’s Warbler.

Tuesday August 26. 60 new of 19 species; new species Black-throated Blue Warbler.
Kelly Dockery is BIC with the assistance of Aggie Windig, Brad Mudrzynski, Doug Smith, Kathy Habgood and Gary Herbert. Bird of the day is Wilson’s Warbler with 11 banded.

Wednesday August 27. 43 new of 15 species; new species Veery. Kelly Dockery is BIC with help from Aggie Windig, Lee Schofield, and Sue Evans. Bird of the day is Magnolia Warbler with 8 banded.

Thursday August 28. 44 new of 19 species; new species Blackburnian Warbler, Bay-breasted Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler, Ovenbird, and Mourning Warbler. Bob McKinney is BIC; we band 12 warbler species, and bird of the day is Magnolia Warbler with 11 banded.

Friday August 29. 28 new of 17 species; new species Sharp-shinned Hawk. Marian Klik, with her new USGS banding permit, is BIC with help from Marilyn Guenther, John Lehr, Tom Klotzbach and Kathleen Holt. A feisty hatching year female Sharp-shinned Hawk provides the excitement of the day!

Saturday August 30. 29 new of 17 species; new species Tennessee Warbler. Bob McKinney is BIC. Common Yellowthroat is bird of the day with 5 banded.
