Thursday September 24. 96 new of 15 species; 28 recaps; new species Dark-eyed Junco. We have a one-day record 75 Blackpoll Warblers banded! We enjoy having Delaney and Rowan here helping. Erin Karnatz and Joanna Klima are guest instructors for the RIT Bander Training Class as they learn about banding and safely handling hummingbirds from Erin and many kinds of auxiliary bands for birds.

Friday September 25. 31 new of 13 species; 28 recaps. It’s a continuation of day after day of winds from the wrong direction for fall so we only band 31 birds, 11 of them Blackpoll Warblers. Dr. Kristi Hannam of SUNY Geneseo gives a workshop for the RIT students.

Saturday September 26. 19 new of 6 species. Another very poor day for BIC Bob McKinney. Bird of the day is (what else?) Blackpoll Warbler with 12 banded. We have now banded an all-time fall record 317 Blackpoll Warblers!!

Note: BIC = "bander-in-charge"
