Thursday, April 17. A flock of 1 tom and 8 hen Wild Turkeys greet us in the field as we arrive for a day of work. A terrific group of volunteers does a fantastic job of setting up the banding station for the spring 2008 season. It was a wonderful day to be outside, but sometimes hard to concentrate with hundreds of hawks migrating overhead. Thanks to Noelle Boon, Betsy Brooks, Kelly Dockery, Jon Dombrowski, Chris Gates, Marilyn Guenther, Marian Klik, Pat Lovallo, Steve Maley, Cindy Marino, and Bob McKinney, all but the aerial nets are up and ready to go by the end of the day.

Saturday, April 19. 48 new bands of 8 species; new species Black-capped Chickadee, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Brown Creeper, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Song Sparrow, Swamp Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, and Dark-eyed Junco. Bird of the day is a tie between Black-capped Chickadee and Ruby-crowned Kinglet with 15 banded of each. Bob McKinney is Bander-in-charge (BIC) with help from Chita McKinney and Taza Schaming, a grad student from Cornell.
