Banding Summary: Week of June 1, 2008

Sunday June 1. 133 new of 29 species. BIC Erin Karnatz, with the help of Leanna Twohig, Barb Wagner and Kathleen Holt enjoy an excellent late spring day of banding. Bird of the day is Blackpoll Warbler with 17 banded. We band 12 warbler species.

Monday June 2. 65 new of 25 species. New species AMERICAN CROW! Cindy Marino is BIC and gets to band the station’s first-ever American Crow, carefully taken out of the net by Peggy Keller and Shirley Meston. We band another 14 Blackpoll Warblers and 12 Traill’s Flycatchers.

Tuesday June 3. 42 new of 20 species. Kelly Dockery is BIC with help from Doug Smith, Ruth Stork, and Pat Lovallo. Migration is beginning to wind down but we still band 8 species of warblers and four flycatcher species.

Wednesday June 4. Banding Station closed.

Thursday June 5. 74 new of 21 species. New species Eastern Kingbird. Bob and Chita McKinney, with the help of Marian Klik, enjoy a nice late spring day of banding. Blackpoll Warbler is bird-of-the-day with 14 banded.

Friday June 6. 71 new of 23 species. Cindy Marino is BIC with help from Virginia Duffy, Sue Evans, Kathleen Holt and Tom Verhulst. Five beautiful Indigo Buntings are a treat.

Saturday June 7. 32 new of 11 species. New species Yellow-billed Cuckoo.
