BBBO has hosted nine bander certification sessions sponsored by the North American Banding Council (NABC). For experienced banders, certification confirms that you have knowledge and skills required to be a leading member of the banding community.

Braddock Bay Bird Observatory hosted a NABC Certification Session at both the Bander and Trainer level on the weekend of September 30-October 2, 2011.  Participating Trainers were Dave Alexander, Betsy Brooks, Annie Crary, Erin Karnatz, Anthony Hill, David Holmes, Sara Morris, and Hannah Suthers. 

Four people were certified at Bander level: Tyler Christensen of Pennington, New Jersey; T. Keith McKenrick of Port Allegany, Pennsylvania; Andrea Patterson, of Rochester, New York; and George Rowsom of Orient, New York. 

Two people were certified at Trainer level: Molly McDermott of Columbus, Ohio and Andrea Patterson of Rochester, New York.
